Surveying: Top Student Award![]() Adrian received a special recognition award for his exceptional devotion towards his input and studies within the building industry and he was presented with a prize and trophy by Nottingham Trent University.
The award from Nottingham Trent University is sponsored and endorsed by The Survey Equipment Company SCCS who are a leading distributor of Leica Geosystems surveying equipment. Adrian's designs were recognised and endorsed by Nottingham Trent University to be worthy of winning an award, selected as top student. In this discipline Adrian included the use of laser scanning and 3d mapping technology for commercial buildings and heritage Grade II Listed properties. Adrian has used 3d geospatial equipment for many design projects including commercial and residential buildings.
3d technology is innovating for design, development and planning, digitally capturing the size, shape and location which can reap huge benefits, save money on surveys through digital capture and reduce the need for many site visits. Qualified Builder and Engineer![]() Adrian Gill is Managing Director of Renuntio Ltd.
An engineer in the armed forces by profession. As part of his resettlement programme The Royal Navy provided a training pathway into the construction business. As a result Adrian received extensive training and became a qualified builder in bricklaying and stone masonry. Adrian has 30+ years of experience within the construction and building industry, his specialisms include house building, outbuildings, garage, extensions, timber frame buildings, plaster/rendering, to include modern houses, heritage and conservation. Problems within the building industryAdrian has found it frustrating appointing building surveyors and architects whose understanding of building practice tends to be limited as this is not part of their role.
Building theory such as design, planning and surveying is not joined up with building practice of constructing a building. It is a common problem that theory and practice do not unify. Consequently it can significantly affect building operations and is often responsible for the over spend for the client. Enough examples exist and regularly documented on the television, where projects can double in cost due to these two issues alone without factoring in other problems. Building Surveyor![]() Adrian's diverse skillset spans across practical, theoretical and the academic divide of the built environment It is a huge benefit for clients which improves synchronisation, aims to minimise the risk of over-spend for the client which regularly occurs under the current industry standard.
Critical and Analytical SkillCritical analytical thinking and an eye for detail is an asset in business particularly building surveying and snagging inspection surveys where the requirement is to identify where others have not fully complete work to the standard requirement.
One example of Adrian's critical ability: Adrian identified that a government funding scheme had a flaw within its policy that did not allow a certain vulnerable group of residents to access government funding where others could, he set out to negotiate with the government to include Parliamentary select committee meetings at The House of Commons and meetings with civil servant, policy makers in Whitehall who changed policy to allow inclusion for this vulnerable group of park home residents to access funding on a national scale Link to the Campaign |
